Am I good enough?

Oh, but where to start?

It's Thursday, which is one day closer to Friday, but unlike everyone else, I prefer the weekdays! Of course, I get to sleep in on the weekends, but I get time to write during the week. I like the quiet of the day.

Problem is, I haven't written hardly anything this week. I've been reading two fantastic authors of my genre, and now I feel inadequate as a writer. Now, I'm sure everyone goes through this at times, so I'm just gonna ride it out and wait until my wonderful muse decides she's done punishing me.

So, here goes the question of the day...do you often doubt your abilities? Do you push away the laptop, notebook, keyboard and think "Why am I trying? I suck!"?

Sound off, y'all! Let me hear that I'm not going completely insane!

  1. Honestly...no. My writing ability is the one thing I have never doubted about myself. I've spent my whole life being told how incredible of an author I am, so even if someone did tell me I was awful, I would just think it was that one person's opinion and move on.

  2. Don't worry about whether you're good enough or not. Sit down and write every day. Enjoy the process. Love the process. Write for the process itself. Eventually you'll get better and better without even realizing it.

  4. Don't worry so much, it just adds to the writer block. RELAX!! Girl, your awesome! Everyone has off days, off weeks, etc. You will come out of this just fine. Truth be told, I am not what you call a recreational reader. The only things I will read on purpose are usually learning material. I figure if I am going to have to read, I want to learn something. But I do enjoy reading your blogs. I can't wait to read your first publication. Maybe I'm bias, but that's how I feel. Keep up the good work girl!! Never so DIE!!!

  5. From time to time, writers' block or doubts hit, of course... so setting it aside and doing something else for awhile helps for me.

  6. Every time I read a good book, I wonder if what I've written is drivel. :)
